I started my wealth journey just like most people do: I had a very good job, yet I wasn’t feeling any financial security. On the surface, I looked like I had a very secure financial future. I was earning very good money working as an Electrical Engineer in a Fortune 50 company, and I was spending most of it. I had clothes, make up, jewelry, and I was travelling the world. Life was good.
My 18 year career as an Electrical Engineer had been very generous to me. I had a very good lifestyle, and some very bad spending habits. I didn’t worry too much because I really believed that this gravy train I was on would never stop. In March of 2000 is when I got my reality check. The company I worked for began to lose customer orders and my job was on the line. To make matters worse, my stock investments plummeted and I didn’t even know what the PIN numbers were to my accounts to stop the losses. I was financially out of control and by August 2001, I had lost my job.
With no income and no assets, I was in a panic. This was right before September 11, 2001. Jobs were still scarce so the arrival of my unemployment check was the only cause for celebration. Even so, the small reserves I did manage to stash away were dwindling. My expenses were high and I didn’t know why. Now, I consider myself an intelligent woman, but during those four months that I was unemployed, I questioned every financial decision I had ever made. I vowed then to do whatever it took to achieve financial empowerment and to never put myself in that helpless position again.
I was introduced to Loral Langemeier in late 2002 when a boyfriend handed me a brochure of an event she was having in Las Vegas. He referred to her as the “best kept secret of the financial industry.” I read the brochure with great interest. I was intrigued. This seemed like the path I needed to take. For the next few months, I attended every teleseminar and every live seminar that she had in the Bay Area and started working on my wealth plan. I was also studying other instructors, but her concept of building your wealth cycles resonated with me the most.
In June 2003 I joined her Big Table program. By then my foundation was solid and I was ready to accelerate my wealth. I was told that if I committed to the program, the Big Table would really propel me to the next level. Boy was that true! In 9 months, I took my net worth from $200K to over $1.2M. By March 2004, I was earning enough money to leave my engineering career behind and pursue other ventures.
Today I am a real estate investor and an entrepreneur. I kept my own promise of achieving financial empowerment, which is why I stay involved with Loral and the Live Out Loud community. But, the best part about this experience is that I get to live my own purpose instead of someone else’s. Life is really good now.
