Today, we as American’s witnessed yet another profound historical event. It was a day that signifies growth, change, ingenuity, and unity. Regardless of your political preferences these are qualities that are at the core of every entrepreneur. All politics aside I was moved like every other American, by the words of a charismatic man, President Obama. As I listened to his first address as President I couldn’t help but find similarities of true entrepreneurialism.
The following quote in particular rang true with me…
“In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted – for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things – some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom…”
–President Barak Obama
This is a call to action directed at people just like you, people who are the risk takers, the doers, and the makers of things… you the entrepreneur.
I’ve always said when it comes to wealth there are two categories of people: 1] creators, generators and expanders, and 2] Restrictors and dieters.
The people who shutter at starting a new business in these economic times are clinging to old ideals and lack vision and purpose. The fact is history tells us that in the bleakest of times true ingenuity and dedication to succeed is what ultimately saves the economy.
Case in point… Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Disney all started during economic downturns as did more than half of the 30 companies that comprise the Dow Jones Industrial Average. (Bankrate.com article ’10 Reasons to Love a Recession’)
The entrepreneurial spirit is awakened in times like these. It’s that spirit of resilience that creates true change for the economy. We all have the opportunity to be part of the change America needs. To be part of history and create a movement that awakens true entrepreneurialism once again in our great Nation.
Now is the time to create your own history and to be involved in a revolution that will change the face of the first real economic crisis of the new millennium.
We’ve heard a call to action directed at the risk taker, the doer and the maker of things – you the entrepreneur, the creator the generator and the expander.
