The number one reason businesses fail is NOT under capitalization. You can make the cash come to you if you know how to get it. The reason why so many ventures don’t make it out of the gate, or too far out of the gate, is they get mucked down in planning. Even if your business isn’t new, the desire to plan, re-plan and plan yet again can get you stuck, stuck, stuck! When you get stuck in the idea that you have to map out your entire sequence, let it sit, come back to it and make sure it’s still your sequence, you will get nowhere fast. The bottleneck that you will create by doing this will stall your success. Too many entrepreneurs think that before they go out and sell they have to have a plan when, in fact, sales is the best way to see if someone wants to buy your product or service in the first place.
Sell first, and then make it happen. That way, when you do all the work, at least you know you are creating something for a specific market. So when you reach the point where planning is needed, you know your message, you know your demand, you know a lot of things that you wouldn’t know if you would have just stared at a screen and started to make “a plan.”
