Many of you might not know this, but I’ve been traveling a lot lately. I just finished a speaking engagement in South Africa and now I’m in Australia.
I thought, “How appropriate that while in Oz I’d go see Oz the Great and Powerful.”
I wasn’t really thinking much of it, but as I left the theater here it really got me thinking…
Don’t worry I’m not going to spoil the movie for you if you haven’t seen it yet.
So many times in our business we think we need to be something we’re not.
We think we need the next marketing course. We think we need this training or that widget. We’re constantly chasing the next great thing to come out.
Sure, we all need to be abreast of the latest trends that can give us an advantage, but we also need to use what we already have.
That was Oz’s problem too, he was chasing the next big thing. He was in his words nothing more than a conman.
When you chase and chase and never put into practice what you’re learning or discovering you too fall into the trap of being a fraud. On the surface you appear to be the real deal but when it comes to results you have nothing to show for it.
Challenge: As you go through your week and learn something new, put it into immediate practice before you move on to learning something else and forget what it was that you learned.
Come back here and report what you’ve been able to do and how that’s helped you. I’d love to read about it.
