Fewer phrases will get under my skin quicker than “I can’t.” Those two little words usually lead to “no” which is not only the opposite of Yes! Energy, it’s an opportunity killer. Some people are so afraid of being wrong, looking stupid or falling on their face that they don’t try in the first place. They line up the excuses. I need more education. I don’t have enough money. I don’t have any resources. I don’t have that talent. That negative self-talk will get you nowhere in life fast and soon you will end up with exactly what you have taken action on — NOTHING. My goal in life is to make sure that you experience abundance and to do that, you need to be able to say “I can” and “YES!”
Don’t be afraid to:
Be Wrong – No one is right 100% of the time and if you are going to be pushing toward success 100% of the time, you are going to be wrong sometimes. There’s no way around that. So just embrace it and move on. If you are challenged, open yourself up to the debate. Maybe you will learn something! At the very least, you will earn the respect of your peers for sparking the conversation and being able to hold your own when challenged.
Look Stupid – In the process of that debate, you MIGHT look stupid. It’s OK! It happens sometimes, in fact if WILL happen. Just use your sense of humor. Believe me, it’s helped me and that’s why mine’s so good.
Fall – Ever learned how to ski, snowboard, rollerblade or do anything that requires balance? Before you get good, you will fall. It’s the same in business. You can’t be afraid to fall! Too many people don’t even try because of this fear. What they might be denying themselves, though, is the discovery of success. So just as you can’t be afraid to fall, you can’t fear what will happen when you succeed. Will you break bones or climb mountains? You won’t know unless you try.
