#AskLoral: What Are Your Daily Rituals?
During my last “#AskLoral” webinar on my birthday a couple weeks ago (shame on you if you didn’t wish me a good one!), a reader asked me what daily rituals I could attribute to my success.
Awesome question.
I’m definitely a believer that what you do every day is a great indicator of who you are and where you’re going.
As I’m getting older now (or wiser, which I prefer), I’ve learned that discipline and consistency is critical.
Personally, I start my day with prayer (you may call it meditation) — And it’s very intentional.
I pray about things like: What is my day looking like? What do I have going on today? What’s going on this week? And what do I have to give up that’s holding me down?
These prayers are purposeful and help me see what’s coming ahead for me and what needs to happen in order for my day to go well.
You gotta see the results before the results even happen.
Another thing I do when I wake up is go work out. It’s very important to me to keep my mind and body well-exercised so I have energy to carry throughout the day.
If my kids are awake, I spend time with them in the morning and then I go work out. I always make family a priority.
So, family, spirit and health come first.
This first trio of habits sets the tone for my day.
I look at my assets. A lot of you, you don’t spend enough time on your assets. You make it a part-time nightly thing or a weekend thing. That never works. So I move looking at my real estate up to the mornings of my day to make sure I’m focused and spend time on it.
The two final things I do every day are pace my marketing and pace my sales. All the rest of it can wait.
If you don’t have marketing, which are focused leads coming in every day, and focused sales coming in every day, you actually don’t even have a business. You have an interesting plan and an interesting idea.
So, all in all, I take care of two sets of three vital things in my life on an everyday basis:
Set 1 is family, spirit and health.
Set 2 is check my assets, marketing and sales.
It took a lot of discipline to do these things every day, but they’re keys to my well being.
That being said, what are yours? Are they worth your time? Are your daily habits purposeful and helping you move closer to reaching your goals?
Analyze your own daily rituals and adjust them accordingly, because it’s just like Aristotle said:
“We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
