Laugh Out Loud

09 Nov Laugh Out Loud

laugh-out-loudLaugh Out Loud (LOL) is more than an abbreviation you use in email or text messages when you find something amusing, it’s something you should be doing every day – for real! When you laugh out loud, your body releases chemicals that actually biologically make you a happier person. Laughter IS good medicine!

Laughter reduces Cortisol: Sure, you could spend your money on weight loss products that decrease stress hormones and help you lose weight.  Or, you could just laugh!  The reduction in Cortisol in your body can also keep high blood pressure in check and increase your level of productivity and overall energy.

Laughter helps your blood circulate: Laughter has an anti-aging effect.  When you laugh, it increases the blood supply in your face and gives your facial muscles a work out, both of which can make you look younger.

Laughter increases NK cells and antibodies: NK cells are also known as Natural Killer cells that strengthen the immune system and provide essential antibodies your body needs to heal

Laughter releases endorphins: Endorphins reduce depression and provides that “happy feel good” rush. When you laugh more, you also lose more (weight that is…).  Endorphins are proven to reduce cravings.

Laughter IS exercise: According to Dr. William Fry of Stanford University, “One minute of laugher is equal to 10 minutes on the rowing machine.”  Now that’s some serious smile cardio!

Laughter gets things moving: Oxygen moves more efficiently through your body due to improved lung capacity and more oxygenated blood. Your tummy will thank you too, because laughter keeps your intestines, colon and bladder working as they should.
