Business Profile: Learning To Be An Entrepreneur
Stephanie O’Brien will be the first to tell you – a few years ago, she’d probably be the least likely candidate to become an entrepreneur.
“I didn’t have an entrepreneurial bone in my body,” she said.
So how is it that she is now on the brink of a huge product launch that she’s confident will skyrocket her business?
Confidence, comfortability and commitment.
I first met Stephanie at an event I was speaking at with my good friend Ted McGrath in 2012. Stephanie was very modest, quiet and timid – not usually what you see with us entrepreneurial folk.
Stephanie’s mother, however, was a different story.
Tracy O’Brien is a personal coach and is heavily involved in real estate.
“My mom’s a visionary type,” Stephanie said. “When she said she wanted a real estate business, she went out and bought 6 real estate properties without any property management experience and started from there.”
Tracy sounds like my type of gal!
Meanwhile, Stephanie had been working for her mom as a property manager, but she knew that this life wasn’t for her. With the help of Tracy, decided that she too wanted to go the entrepreneurial route – but she still needed help.
So, after leaving her job as a property manager in the spring of 2011, she launched her current business in April 2013 – www.captivatingcopywriter.com.
And this is where I came into play.
While at a 3 Days to Cash workshop of mine, Stephanie told me she was working on a product launch, but was waiting on finalizing the product before making anything official.
I hate waiting.
“Loral gave me quite a kick in the butt when it came to launching my course,” Stephanie said. “She said, ‘Steph, start selling the course now and you can get the audio and everything else in place later.’ Once I made the decision to set a launch date, ideas and JV (joint venture) partners started presenting themselves everywhere.”
Now, Stephanie’s product launch is on track for February 15th.
I’ll tell you, Stephanie has made tremendous strides.
She’s a lot more confident in approaching people and understanding her value, she stands independently from her mother now instead of in her shadow, and has learned to just go for it.
“Some of the biggest things that have helped me in my journey are that I’ve gotten more comfortable with the sales conversation – thanks to 3 Days to Cash –, I’ve learned to make a commitment and do what it takes to make it work, and my confidence,” Stephanie said. “My confidence has gone through the roof.”
Stephanie’s transformation thus far has been incredible. It’s unbelievable to think she’s made this much progress in just more than 1 year.
For those who still don’t believe that changing your mindset is the first step to changing your life, the proof is in the pudding.
One of the most amazing things she told me about her evolution is how much she’s learned to just say YES and figure out how!
“All in all, it’s been a journey of being overly cautious and preparatory, to just trusting my instincts and jumping in with both feet,” she said.
That-a girl!
