According to a recent CNN article, “2% of workers admit their top resolution going into the new year is to help get their boss fired.” Why? If you don’t like your boss, the best way to get back at them is to become your own boss and kill it.
I used to work with a colleague that got dumped by his girlfriend because he didn’t make enough money. You know what his sole focus was for the next few years? To make enough money to buy a brand spanking new Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo S and wait for her to come out of her house so he could drive by revving the engine to let her know that she had missed out.
Now, that’s a bit psychotic if you ask me, but nonetheless wanting to show someone up is a great motivator.
Let that motivate you to achieve more in 2013 than you did in 2012.
That same survey cited that “another 23% said their main goal is looking for a new job.” Many of them are looking so they can make more money. The best way to make money is to work for yourself. It’s always easy, but it’s worth it.
