The American Dream it has a nice nostalgic ring to it doesn’t it?
When our parents or grandparents spoke of the American Dream they preached, work hard, get a good job, work at it for 30 years, retire with a pension, and hopefully, a free and clear home. In those days that was the dream. Today the dream for many seems dismal with economic downturns, mass layoffs, and overall pessimism. When I read in USA Today, “the American Dream is not dead, only wounded,” I wasn’t impressed. I live my dream everyday and quite pain-free, thank you!
Everyone must define their own idea of what their dream should be — and then make it happen. The thinking behind that kind of American Dream is outdated. It’s stagnant thinking in today’s world. It’s just not safe to hold on to this kind of mindset in the ever-changing society we now live in.
So what is the solution?
What is the new dream?
How do we identify it?
Where do we go from here?
These are the burning questions. Asking these questions is your first step to financial awareness. Knowing that you are responsible for your financial future is key to bridging the gap between where you are right now and where you need to be to achieve financial independence and the resulting calm instead of the threat of a continual storm.
It’s time to open yourself up to the idea that EARNERS ARE LEARNERS. You have to get smart about the steps you need to take to create wealth. Get in touch with new ideas. Put yourself out there and ask questions. The most prolific self-made millionaires will tell you every dollar earned was a learning process. You must continuously gain momentum or, during the uphill climb here and there, you might fizzle out. You don’t want that.
