Backyard marketing is fine. You should rule your backyard. But don’t let your backyard be the end all be all of your business. If you just play in your own backyard, you will never meet the neighbors. You won’t do anything but home school. In effect, you will have many more opportunities come to you if you aren’t afraid to hop on a plan to go get them!
There are so many ways your business will benefit when you travel.
- Pitch on planes: Loral does it all the time, so why can’t you? Depending on your product or service, one sale could pay for your entire trip!
- Expand your business reach: Driving distance is only so far and if you are only approaching customers in your immediate area you are leaving a lot of money on the table.
- Embrace more educational opportunities: Not every event you want to attend is going to be held in your city or have an Internet option available. By jumping on a plane you can learn more and make more.
- Network outside of your zone: The great thing about traveling is that you meet new people. New people, new ideas, new business… it’s all interlinked.
- Act bigger, look bigger, be bigger: The wealthy travel to where they want to go. They do business where they want and they grow exponentially. To “act as if” you are already wealthy you have to plan some trips. It’s a good way to surround yourself with people who think big.
