Ask Loral: How do I make money without money?
I’m trying to expand beyond my home country, but am having a difficult time making finding my footing. How did you initiate your first international seminar and what did it take?
What I encourage all of you to do is seek joint ventures with people in the country you’re looking at.
Look for someone who’s already in the country, someone who’s already doing business there. I find local promoters — or someone who’s already putting on a seminar — and try to get on their stage.
And a lot of times, they find me. In fact, they always find me. I have more requests right now than I can handle. Many of my outside stages are done this way now simply because people know you can’t work on your own anymore and be effective. There has to be partnerships and a little give-and-take on both sides.
But for you, I would find people in that country who are already doing business and go along with them.
You’re going to have to pay your own way to get there and sleep there, because that’s just how the game’s played, but this is the easiest answer to generate speaking opportunities.
Partner up with someone. Don’t go solo. Even if you have to give away 60-70% in the beginning, you’re getting in.
This method is much easier than trying to establish yourself in a new place and building it from the ground up. It saves you time and you start making money faster.
Find people in new countries who are already doing it, partner up with them, and get on their stage.
