5 Steps to Success

I’m going to share with you 5 questions. These are the same 5 questions I ask myself before I embark on a new project. This is how I’ve been able to succeed and how you too can have success in ANY market or niche you choose.

All you have to do is answer the questions below…

1. What is my vision for my market?
2. Do I believe I can achieve it? What beliefs are holding me back from achieving it?
3. What/who can I identify and align myself with to learn what I need to do to fulfill my vision and change my belief if needed?
4. Am I committed to taking the proper action steps to get there? (You know what to do, but will you do it?)
5. Are you happy and having fun in the process? (If not, you won’t follow through and push through when times get tough and they will.)

If you do this right, it’ll take you at least 20 minutes to answer all 5 questions thoroughly.

If you have a business, even if it is a small business, you have to become a leader for those who work with you. Those who have a small startup in the garage are in need of quality leadership just as much as those who are in charge of billion dollar companies. They say that some people are born leaders, but that’s not really the case. Those “born leaders” are usually keen observers. They know what works and what doesn’t work in leadership roles, and they know enough to develop the skills they need early.

The following are 5 skills the all leaders need to possess. Some of these things will seem innate to you, and others you will be able to improve.

Learn to Listen

One of the most important things that a leader needs to do is to be able to listen. Those who charge recklessly ahead with their plans without heeding the words of those around them are doomed to failure. Those who are on your team may well have thoughtful insight into different projects or products, and learning to listen can help your overall business.

Motivate the Right Way

Motivation is important to any group, but a leader needs to motivate the right way. You should never use fear as a motivator. The only thing that it’s going to do is turn your staff against you. Instead, you want to use praise to motivate. Be sincere in your interactions with your team, and be honest. They will appreciate this and it will show in their work.

Use Proper Methods of Discipline

If you need to enforce discipline on a staff member, you need to do it the right way. Be respectful, and discipline in privacy. When dealing with personal problems, a good leader knows how to keep emotion out of the conversation and he or she will not become personally involved.

Learn to Utilize the Skills of Your Team

Good leaders surround themselves with a good team, and they make sure that they are utilizing the skills of every team member to their fullest. Leaders are going to empower others to take leadership roles as well.

Take Responsibility

Leaders that people respect are those who are able to stand by their decisions and take responsibility, even when they were wrong.

Are You Stuck in Realism?

There’s a buzzword going around and if not used properly it can be like a shot in the foot. REALISTIC. There’s a fine line between being “realistic” and being self-defeating. Look, I know some of you are “hard sells” when it comes to talking about becoming a millionaire with a 3 to 5 year strategy plan. I get that. I also get that it’s much easier to say it’s not “realistic”. That’s a scapegoat. With that kind of “realistic” thinking, you’ll never discover your cash cow.

The truth is, our nation has the largest population of Millionaires. Of those the majority earned their millions through creating wealth of their own, i.e. business owners. About 80% of millionaires are first generation, which means they worked hard and smart for their money. Two-thirds of the millionaires are self-employed, with 75 percent of them entrepreneurs. That’s HUGE!

So why shouldn’t you be one of those people. What’s holding you back?

For many it’s because their mindset tells them that it’s “just not realistic” and they never start something that could be very real.

Here’s what’s real…

Millionaires have a plan.

Weather or not you decide to follow my wealth strategies you need a plan. It’s your road map to money. Be specific and learn to adapt and recognize opportunity. Most millionaires are entrepreneurs who stayed the course.

Millionaires work.

If you want to be a millionaire, you’re going to have to work. It’s true. You’ve got to get serious, be consistent, and put in the time. The majority of millionaires are business owners and work about 45 hours or more per week.

Millionaires don’t spend what they don’t have. .

Millionaires shop smart. They look for deals. The smart ones live at a comfortable middle class spending plan. Fact: 43% of millionaires have a Sears card. On that same note, most only carry one major credit card and pay it off at the end of each month. If they want something they devise a plan to get it.

Millionaires make sure every dollar goes to support continued wealth. (Period)

Simply put, you need a cash machine, a business that will sustain a continuous flow of income.

Millionaires are in a cycle of continuous learning.

In fact, most millionaires have a mentor or copied a successful business and or personal strategy model. You’ve got to keep up with the times. The phrase nothing new under the sun no longer applies in this information age. Keep your mind sharp for new opportunities.

I know the prospect of becoming a millionaire in 3 to 5 years to you may seem far-fetched, my personal experience with the nearly 600 people tells me differently. It might be time for you took look at how your “realistic” mindset is holding you back. Are you being realistic or are you being pessimistic?

You might not be the one who makes their millions in 3 to 5 years but what if you’re one of the ones that is poised to do so in 10 years because of the steps you’ve taken today? Wouldn’t it still be worth it even if you achieve it a few years later?

Get Rid of the No Energy

Having the intention to have Yes! Energy is one thing and good intentions are, well, good. But to truly begin to feel the impact of Yes! Energy in your life you need to remove the “no energy” from your environment. The other day, I did a free teleseminar that described how to remove that “no energy” and shift your mindset AND physical surroundings to source your best energy possible.

Physical Environment – If you have let your housekeeping slip because you don’t have time to clean, hire a housekeeper. If you haven’t made the money yet to add that person to your team, make some small shifts in your physical environment to shift your energy. Light candles, pick up a little, hang some art… find what energizes you and put it in your environment.
Social Environment – No energy people DO NOT belong in your life. These people will take more from you than you can give and instead of energizing you they drain you like an energy tick — sucking out all of the fire, passion and go go go and leaving you with nothing to give. Instead, socialize with people who have Yes! Energy. You will notice an immediate change in your energy level and the opportunities that will be available to you.
Educational Environment – If you aren’t learning, you are stagnant and if you are just sitting there you aren’t making money. So educate yourself. Find Your Yes! Energy is a great place to start your education.

Going Above and Beyond Isn’t Enough

If you haven’t been able to tell by now, I personally hate the word “no.”

Not only is it a short stubby little word that isn’t very attractive, it’s also pretty hard to say it without sounding like a two-year old. “No” slams doors of opportunity shut but it will also do another thing, it will run customers out of your door faster than your business catching on fire.

Why?

Because people don’t like to hear that word either. If you listen to any talk show, you don’t hear the word no – even if there is a disagreement. You hear the word but… and a counter-point. Never no. That word stops things cold and then you get uncomfortable – dead air. Like my radio show that started on HayHouse Radio this week – you won’t be hearing the dead air that the word “no” can deliver on MY show. No way. And it’s live so there are no second chances.

Now, let’s apply this to your customer service strategy. How often are you telling your CUSTOMERS no? No, I can’t do that. Or, no I don’t offer that product. Or, no that’s not possible? When you spend so much time acquiring customers, why in the world would you want to chase them away by uttering such a pithy little word? Why shut the door on the sale like that?

I ran into a couple of ladies, business partners, at a Power of Yes! Event and they really wanted to go to 3 Days to Cash but couldn’t make it fit into their schedule. Could they attend in a different city? We found our yes. Ultimately, instead of saying no, they said yes to hopping on a plane and COMBINING vacation and 3 Days to Cash.

Sometimes, its a matter of finding what you can say yes to INSTEAD of saying no. Are things not going to be feasible because of your schedule? Yes. Will you run into hiccups that will make things a little more difficult? Yes. Can you change the conversation so you can still get a desirable outcome, move forward and save the sale (and the customer relationship? YES!

That is the new definition of “going above and beyond.” It’s not running around like crazy trying to make everyone happy and making everyone unhappy in the process. It’s finding the YES that makes them happy and YOU happy too.

Got it? (You better say yes…)

Share Your Legacy

Every book I write is summed up in the same way. I talk about legacy. I ask you to consider who you can pass your gifts on to. Yes! Energy by itself will bring you many rewards. But when you choose to pass it on to the next generation, that gift could change the world.

Whether you have children of your own or you volunteer your time and talents to kids who need mentors, giving the gift of Yes! Energy is one of the greatest things you can do. As you move forward in life, grow, learn new things, embrace the power of positive in your life, it’s important to share that perspective with others. It’s a powerful thing to reeducate those who are coming up in this world and show them the way to success. Most kids dream about what their future will be like. Encourage them to dream about how they can live their best life NOW. When you teach kids the power of no-limit thinking, you are creating a legacy. Thinking like that results in an explosion of potential, ideas, personal growth. Anything is possible! Anything! All of the sudden the fearless, bulletproof, try-anything nature of childhood is transformed into something with direction, purpose and goals.

If you’ve ever seen the light turn on with a child or teen, it’s an amazing thing. That’s why I allow those who attend 3 Days to Cash to bring a teen for free. When the teens catch on, you can see the fireworks behind their eyes. They get it! They sell. They engage. They believe. They succeed. What a powerful thing to pass something like that on to the next generation!

Think back to your childhood. What would you have done with such insight? If you had that energy, was it encouraged? By giving that gift, that encouragement, mentorship and direction to the next generation, we will definitely leave this world in a better state than when we were born into it.

How will you share your legacy?

Nervous? You are doing something right!

Let me tell you a little something about change. If you are doing it, sometimes it’s not the most comfortable thing in the world. Whether you are changing a conversation and expressing a new point of view on something or changing an important part of your life, odds are there will be a little discomfort in there. It’s normal! Change isn’t supposed to be easy. If it were, people would be less likely to stick around jobs that are capping their value (you are worth so much more than what an accountant says you are). They would kick relationships to the curb that are bad for them, bad for their kids and damaging to their state of mind. And they certainly wouldn’t hold onto the same pants that are 5 sizes bigger than their ideal. Change is tough. But, you know what? YOU are tougher.

There are going to come times when you are changing that you look back and you shine a spotlight on both the good and the bad of your former situation. That self-talk will either move you forward or hold you back. What are you going to let it do? You can look at that job and say, “I made six figures. I had full benefits. I had a check every two weeks.” Or, you can take that same spotlight, power it up with Yes! Energy, and say, “I am pursuing my passion. I am on track to make higher six figures next year if I keep pushing forward. I am reliant on no one but myself for my health and security.”

Which conversation is going to move you forward and which is going to keep you looking backward and moving that way?

If you are nervous about the change in your conversations, your life, the way you are doing things, you are doing something RIGHT! You just need to stop framing it as nervousness and start seeing it as excitement for your new, bigger, life. Instead of framing it as fear, look at is as an opportunity to venture into an exciting new territory.

YOU are the master of your life. YOU are the fuel for your Yes! Energy!

Now go and get that big life you deserve! Go! Go! Go!

Get Rich Financially, Personally and Spiritually

I have a lot of conversations when I am on the road – a lot – and one of the biggest ones is how stunningly wrong the traditional talk track is about “saving money.” Let me set the record straight. If you are saving your pennies, skimping on your dreams, living small and cheating yourself out of success, then you need a new path. Live Out Loud is as much about the way you think about things (mindset) as much as it is about how you do them (tactics).

The reason most people fail on their budgets, much like diets, is that the focus is on restriction. Let’s not kid ourselves, what you receive is what you think about the most. It’s not just The Secret, it’s a fact. Not only is restriction and saving giving you 30 years of a life you DON’T want, it’s also not allowing you to move at the speed of innovation and opportunity. It doesn’t honor your gifts or talents.

The conflict of these messages is exhausting. No wonder so many people have a lack of energy, let alone Yes! Energy. You can’t get rich financially, personally or spiritually if your reality is restrictive. This same philosophy applies to all of you who are primarily focused on debt, or even worse, those of you who have mixed messages around how debt can actually be a huge asset to building wealth.

Also, your naysayers are out there constantly sharing their message of risk. But, as many of you heard during our Yes! Energy Celebration last week, our primary source of fear is NOT of failure. Most of us are truly afraid of wild success.

I can’t blame you. After all, you’re bombarded with hours of messages about how you shouldn’t even have your morning coffee.

Avoiding this constant trap of exhaustion is all about protecting your energy, particularly the source that allows you to say Yes! to your gifts. When your answer is “Yes!” there is no limit to possibility, which is just as intimidating as it is empowering. But successful people tune that voice out and focus on results.

I spent years establishing an unmatched reputation as the “tactical queen,” and I will never back down from getting you huge results in all areas of your life. But all the tactics in the world don’t matter when your answer is “no.” I have spent years guaranteeing consistent daily cash, as well as cash at hundreds of events across the world. I’m that confident – not in myself – but in YOU. And guess what, you have created cash in every single Three Days to Cash room because YOUR answer was “Yes!”

I smile to myself every time someone tells me I’m selling too hard because they have no idea of the power of these rooms. I’m not in there selling my products or services, YOU are. I can’t be in every single community in the world, but YOU are spreading the message to your friends and family. This is about YOUR passion, YOUR commitment and YOUR dedication.

These aren’t promises, they’re guarantees. And you owe it to yourself to start guaranteeing that your answer will move from “no” to “Yes!”

Sequencing for Success

Yesterday, we talked to you about physical energy drains. Now, I am going to speak about something that can drain you even if you are doing all of the right things – doing it out of order! I call this sequencing. The sequence I was brought up with was simple Nebraska stuff. Work hard. Repeat. Money was something that came with lots and lots of work and it was to be used for sustaining existence. Investing, ski slopes and lattes weren’t on the agenda. The basic process was birth, school, work, marriage and working a little less but never completely stopping. As you get older, as a woman, your work just changed. I was never wired that way. I work to take care of my family but I do it in a different way. I teach my children to make their money work for them. I teach my children the proper sequence of doing things.

Sequencing can help you all over the place in your life. It’s a vital part of extreme optimism and energy, which is the end result of the Yes! Energy Equation. A properly sequence of scheduled events can get you there every day! If your day isn’t working for you, don’t fight the energy, change it! Dan Kennedy told me during the Yes! Energy Summit a great bit of information, that you have to find your time of day when the creativity, ingenuity, business, comes most freely for YOU! Your team will have to work around that. His best time is 2 AM. I’m best after coffee. Everyone is different.

Bottom line – take risks, do things differently. Stop what you have been doing if it isn’t working and get in the sequence of success. Go! Go! Go! Switch it up.
